­Resumo 

Este artigo tem por objetivo apresentar aproximações entre design de moda e resistência política, a partir do conceito de “traje de oposição”, de autoria da historiadora inglesa Elizabeth Wilson, tendo como foco a coleção de protesto criada pela designer de moda brasileira Zuzu Angel, intitulada International Dateline Collection IV (1971). A investigação pretende observar os trajes, as materialidades e técnicas empregadas pela designer, nos quais o cenário sociocultural e político são expressos por meio das roupas. O diálogo será amparado pelo histórico realizado por Wilson (1985), Mendes e Haye (2003), Crane (2006) e Mackenzie (2010) e terá aporte em reflexões de Lipovetsky (1987) sobre o campo do design e da moda, e por meio de proposições que promovem diálogos entre design e política, de Jesus (2014) e Bambozzi (2014). As discussões apontam aproximações entre a criação da designer de moda brasileira Zuzu Angel e as vozes de resistência aos sistemas dominantes, no contexto da ditadura militar.

Abstract 

This article aims to present approximations between fashion design and political resistance based on the concept of “oppositional dress”, by the English historian Elizabeth Wilson, focusing on the protest collection created by Brazilian fashion designer Zuzu Angel, entitled International Dateline Collection IV (1971). This investigation intends to observe the costumes, materialities and techniques employed by the designer in which the sociocultural and political scenery are expressed through clothes in specific contexts. The dialogue will be supported by the historical review made by Wilson (1985), Mendes and Haye (2003), Crane (2006) and Mackenzie (2010) and will be based on Lipovetsky’s (1987) reflections on the field of design and fashion, and through propositions that promote dialogues between design and politics, by Jesus (2014) and Bambozzi (2014). The discussions point to approximations between the creation of Brazilian fashion designer Zuzu Angel and the voices of resistance against the dominant systems, in the context of the military dictatorship.
