Resumo

Este artigo traz os resultados da pesquisa de mestrado de Costa (2011), com o objetivo de analisar a relação entre ações educativas e práticas preservacionistas na cidade de São Luís. Para isso fez o mapeamento dos instrumentos dessas ações através de seus órgãos de proteção e instituições afins, seguida de sistematização metodológica da análise dos instrumentos de preservação baseando-se em documentos nacionais e internacionais que recomendam, desde 1931, a prática e a promoção de ações educativas. Tais recomendações são pautadas nos conceitos de patrimônio cultural, intervenções arquitetônicas, urbanísticas e ampliados ao longo do tempo. Dentro desse universo foram selecionados doze instrumentos. A pesquisa mostra que as relações entre ações educativas e práticas preservacionistas mudam com o tempo, a instituição promotora, os objetivos e o público para quem se dizem alvo. Os instrumentos para a promoção das ações educativas em São Luís geralmente têm o foco no patrimônio arquitetônico, urbano e seus elementos característicos.

Abstract

This article brings the results of Costa’s master’s research (2011), with the objective of analyzing the relationship between educational actions and preservationist practices in the city of São Luís. To do this, he mapped the instruments of these actions through his protection organs and related institutions, followed by methodological systematization of the analysis of preservation instruments based on national and international documents that recommend, since 1931, the practice and promotion of educational actions. Such recommendations are based on the concepts of cultural heritage, architectural and urban interventions and expanded over time. Within this universe, twelve instruments were selected. The research shows that the relationships between educational actions and preservationist practices change over time, the promoting institution, the objectives and the public for whom they claim to be the target. The instruments for promoting educational actions in São Luís generally focus on architectural and urban heritage and its characteristic elements.
