Resumo

O presente artigo visa investigar a influência da reprodução da imagem na ilustração, analisando seus aspectos epistêmicos, sua gênese, características e constituintes. Especificamente, busca-se compreender o papel crucial da tecnologia na produção e difusão da ilustração, e de que maneira a reprodutibilidade afeta a criação da imagem impressa. Para alcançar tal objetivo, baseou-se na perspectiva de Walter Benjamin, explorando a ideia de que a obra de arte sempre foi reprodutível, permitindo sua imitação por outros. Utilizando a revisão sistemática, revisão de literatura e análise de imagens, examinou-se a condição da reprodução da imagem como um ponto central na análise da ilustração. Diante da singularidade da obra de Benjamin e da atualidade da discussão por ele proposta, seu texto publicado em 1936, “A obra de arte na era da sua reprodutibilidade mecânica”, mostrou-se ímpar para ser base dessa análise. A partir dela, espera-se contribuir tanto para os profissionais quanto acadêmicos nas áreas de design, artes e história.

Abstract:

This article aims to investigate the influence of image reproduction in illustration, analyzing its epistemic aspects, genesis, characteristics, and constituents. Specifically, it seeks to understand the crucial role of technology in the production and dissemination of illustration and how reproducibility affects the creation of the printed image. To achieve this objective, it is based on Walter Benjamin’s perspective, exploring the idea that the work of art has always been reproducible, allowing for its imitation by others. Through systematic review, literature review, and image analysis, the condition of image reproduction is examined as a central point in the analysis of illustration. Given the uniqueness of Benjamin’s work and the relevance of the discussion he proposed, his text published in 1936, “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction,” proves to be unparalleled as the basis for this analysis. It is hoped that this study will contribute to professionals and academics in the fields of design, arts, and history.
